2024 ATDI Exploration: North America and Western Europe

The Adventure Tourism Development Index (ATDI) is a global ranking from the Adventure Travel Trade Association and George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies (GW IITS) that assesses adventure tourism competitiveness of countries around the globe.

The ATDI ranks countries in 9 categories:

This report presents a comparative analysis of North American countries, specifically the United States and Canada, with leading Western European countries including Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The findings are based on the 2024 Adventure Tourism Development Index (ATDI), which evaluates countries across nine pillars grouped into three core factors: Enabling Environment, Resources, and Readiness. Scores range from 0 to 10, with higher values reflecting stronger performance.
